"Ancelotti? We want a manager who is not afraid of pressure"

MARCA had the opportunity to speak with Ednaldo Rodrígues, president of the CBF, on two issues that link Brazilian football to Real Madrid. On the one hand, the manifest interest in hiring Carlo Ancelotti as Brazilian coach and, on the other, the situation of Vinícius Junior.

In the second case, Rodrigues was energetic. “We are worried. We cannot allow an athlete like Vinícius to suffer racist attacks almost every week. We have transferred it to the Spanish Federation because it is not normal. The government has also consulted us and the Brazilian justice minister has sent a letter to the Spanish minister to show him the situation and find an immediate solution”.

“You have to defend yourself very strongly against racism. The situation repeats itself and is recurring. We will go to all courts to defend Vinicius or any other Brazilian athlete who is attacked” the president said.

It’s time for Ancelotti and the future of the Brazilian bench. “We are looking for a great manager and many of them are currently competing with their clubs.. We are looking for regardless of nationality. I can’t talk about any specific man. There are several and we have clear ideas about what we want, but some work in their clubs and we have to respect them.”

He has clear ideas about what he is looking for. “We want a manager who is not afraid of pressurewho knows what it means to lead a team like Brazil, which plays good football, but which also knows how to understand that you have to win.”

The president of the CBF and head of coach selection, acknowledges that the coach should be permanently in Brazil. “We believe it is necessarythat the coach knows and thoroughly knows everything there is in Brazil, the players who are there and who lives there every day”.
