The fantasy series adapts the last two books by Bardugo shadow and bone trilogy, titled siege and storm And ruin and rise, respectively. It also excludes elements Six crows And Crooked Kingdom.

Kaz’s revenge plot against Pekka Rollins is a storyline in crooked kingdom, For example, while details of Kaz’s backstory and Wylan’s introduction to the Crows crew are a part of Six crows.

There are even elements of king of scars Duology included in the show, such as Nikolai’s friend Dominik, who died in battle years before Bardugo’s books were set to music but is still alive during the events of the TV show.

Showrunner Eric Heisserer narrates news week this rationalization shadow and bone The second season’s story, which incorporates storylines from multiple books, “came out of necessity due to the show’s large cast.”

He explained, “The discoveries we made in the first five weeks of the Writers Room as we watched Season 2 were big tectonic shifts for us as we realized so much of it siege and storm– because it’s solely from Alina’s point of view – didn’t give us much interaction […] with other main characters.

“And when you have such a large and exciting cast list as ours, we knew right away that we had to find the most aerodynamic story possible that would allow us to hit the moments with Alina’s development and her arc […] but then allowed us to move on to either of Nikolai’s team or the Crows or any number of other new characters we introduced here. So it was about feeding a lot of mouths.”

shadow and bone Season 2 is available now on Netflix.
